Any ideas. The people at the pet store had no idea.

it is definately a Ctenochaetus sp. it could be in between color changes.. does it look like it may have stripes?? it is hard to see in the pic....is this fish in a 10g tank?????

It does have mild stripes, but in a 37 gallon. looks like orange spots on the head too

it could be a striped bristletooth or maybe a tomini bristletooth...if it is younger, it is most likely still going through color changes..it may be hard to tell until it is matured

it's a spot cheek tang....easy to keep, can be a bit mean...

Ctenochaetus striatus is my best guess based on those fuzzy pics.

nope, not a flame fin, the Ctenochaetus striatus is correct, it's common name is spot cheek tang, i had 1 about 12 years ago, bullet proof but kinda mean.

Sometimes called a "Striatus/Striated Bristletooth", or (mistakenly) "Lavendar Tang". This species can drastically change color. It can be especially aggressive to other herbivores. IMO a great addition to a reef aquarium- eats detritus, algae etc.

Are you planning on a bigger tank for it? 37 is ok if it is by itself..

I am not da Police on tank since, just asking.
