Chromis - Is this a disease?
My blue chromis appears to have what looks like a cut on its mouth that almost appears fuzzy on one side but I am not sure if that is just because it might be an injury. He is the only occupant and I have a cycled QT tank but I am not sure if this is something to treat or not?
He is my only fish at present and there is a cleaner shrimp and 5 nas snails. Has anyone ever seen this?

if it's an injury it could very well be some sort of infection, bacterial or funal. I'm not sure what it is, but I reccomend getting a pic if possible, will really make a difference with some of the reefcentral guru's trying to help ID anything.

I would leave him in there and keep an eye on him...most likely an injury with bacteria growth.....the cleaner shrimp will take care of it....it should heal.

Sorry about the post
So many people post things and ask for a ID with no pic. There is honestly no way to find out what anything is without a pic. All everyone can do is guess. Hope you find what you are looking for though |

No problem Staticx. I do appreciate the importance of pics but It was 10:30 at night (dark since 5pm because it is Canada) and taking a detailed shot of a 2mm sore on a 1/2 inch fishes mouth is difficult to say the least, at least with my camera skills
Turns out it is Lymphocystis and it is common after a bad acclimation especially in damselfish (ie chromis). Not much detailed info on it but it seems there is no treatment and it runs its course in 3-4 weeks and mortality is low. Now I am stuck with this stupid virus in my tank indefinetely. I guess it can lay dormant in the substrate for years even without a host as it is a virus.

No problem, we all have those. Sorry about the troll comment, it was an overreaction. Its all good so no more apologizing before we make people sick!! lol.
Little guy is eating and swimming like a champ. I am pretty sure this will pass according to what I have read. Good luck with the chromis.
