NSW questions
Well i had seen alot of posts about natural saltwater and wanted to see what the big deal was.. so i dumped my 5 gallon bucket down off my dock into tampa bay.. my results were iffy..The calcium was perfect (salifert), my alkalinity seems very very low(salifert) which doesnt make sense to me since alk and calcium go hand in hand??? and pH was good, but somehow i got a 0.1 Phosphate reading from my red sea phosphate kit, which to my knowledge there really is no phosphte kit that actually works all that well so i would guess it must be very high in phosphates...
Now is this normal for nsw?? im assuming that it is not considering that we try to mimick NSW in our reef tanks and that is not the parameters we aim for.. Do you think it would make the difference by going about a mile out in the gulf?? it wouldnt be far but i just thought of it while i was out on the dock and figured i would take some readings... let me know what you think.. thanks!!

Dont use anything that close to shore. You really need to go out of the bay to get the NSW. I hear Tampa bay is pretty poluted from my dive buddies down that way.
