sump filter hang on overflow box noise-anyone else???
to everyone-i just made an adjustment in the direction the hose was laying and it stopped making noise
i just upgraded and hooked up a new wet/dry sump filter. in the hang on box with the drain down to the sump-the water which is about an inch to a inch and a half above the drain keeps going up and down just enough and it sounds like a tiolet bowl flushing-is this the way it is or can it be adjusted-very annoying since its in my living room Last edited by lmh11706; 03/12/2007 at 09:28 PM. |

Most of the time you will nodice a decrease in the amount of noise they make but there are ways to make a "muffler" for them with pvc pipe, airline tubing, and in some cases filter floss.

When I used to have a hang on overflow I added a small piece of rubble rock next to the U-tube inside the overflow box, and it reduced the flushing sound quite a bit. The rock keeps the water level a little higher so that the water level doesn't drop so far when the pump is really pulling, which causes the toilet flushing sound you are hearing.
