Anyone use Polyfilters
Hey guys...
I was just wondering who of you have used the polyfilters. My next question addresses those of you that do use this filter, typically, how long does the filters get exhausted before removing the filters and replacing it with new ones? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. |

I think it depends on what the filter is trapping...I use them regularly and they are usually brown (regular organic load). When they turn black you are supposed to replace them but I usually do so fairly regularly so I've never had them get to that stage. When you remove metals like iron they turn different colors. The one thing I've noticed is my tank has done much better since I started using the polyfilters...corals seem happier and the water is clearer.

thanks for the response. Yeah I have noticed that my tank has been doing better ever since I started using the filters, but I seem to be pulling a lot of organic waste. The color of my filter when exhausted is brownish-maroon color. I have an sps dominated tank and everything seems to be doing well.

I use the polyfilters in a canister filter on my 55g. Have been using the polys for about a year. I usually change them about once a month. They're typically a medium to dark brown by that point.
There have been a few times when I didn't have a new poly to replace the old one, so I would just run without it. I could really tell a difference in the water when I added the poly back in later. |
