A couple of questions
I have a 24 gallon Nano and recently my heater has developed a huge temperature swing. So needless to say I'm needing a heater asap but want a digital heater. What is a good brand?
Second question, I'm looking to move up to a large tank. Probably a 185gal. I was looking a custom built one but the cost plus shipping is a little more than I bargained for. What is a good brand name tank? Thanks, |

i would use a good titanium heater to reduce the chance of breaking and they will also act like a grounding probe. as for the tank you can have one custom built buy glass cages.

All-glass, Oceanic, both good brands. Pay close attention to these points: 1. thickness of glass. A reef carries a lot of rock, sand, and water, and a thin-walled tank may break. My seams are half an inch.
2. Shape and ease of handling: I have a bowfront: it fits my lifestyle perfectly because I have limited space for a tank; but I ended up drilling my living room floor and putting the sump in the basement because the stand on a bowfront just isn't large enough to accommodate a big enough sump. When I did that I went whole hog, and got a 30g sump for my 54g tank. 3. tempered bottom y/n? You can't drill a tempered bottom to make it reef ready. A manufactured reef-ready tank saves a lot of hassle. It comes with a downflow box [or 2] and thus you don't have to buy a HOB downflow. [hang-on-back], which is all kinds of fineagle and finesse, in handling, compared to one with an inbuilt box.

Thanks for the responses. Maybe my first post wasn't very clear.
What brand titanium digital heater? If I'm looking for a reef ready manufactured tank which brand is the prefered brand? Glass or Acrylic reef ready tanks would be suitable in my setup. Thanks, |
