Copperband isn't happy since I killed all the Live Pods/Inverts in the 65 Gal.
The Copper Treatment did it. (The sacrifices/difficult choices we make....Or maybe it was a bad idea....Should have gone TTM only) He used to pick everywhere, but now there is nothing to pick. Looking but not picking. Due to lack of picking, he isn't picking the Masstick Feeder Either. Could Eatting Halt be due to Copper in tank? When I move him to next Transfer Tank, I'll re-establish some live life. Making another Batch of PhytoFed Baby Brines. And will add Tigger Pods. And Masstick again. Good news is he looks PERFECT (since yesterday). No Visible ICH AT ALL. |

Rhyme (THERE WAS AND OLD LADY who Swallowed A FLY...) She didn't eat MASSTICK"
I got duped by the Copperband Butterfly, into ordering MASSTICK food. As the rhyme goes..., She Swallowed a spider to catch the fly, Swallowed a bird to catch the spider..... I THINK based on my observations now......The TINY Pods were on the MASTICK Feeder Feeding....and the Copperband found the concentration and was eating the Pods. Now with Pods gone, Copperband isn't interested in the Masstick or Feeder. Now the Copperband is searching everywhere to find some live food to eat. He will get plenty in new QT. (Tigger Pods, and Live Brine Shrimps....(on the Masstick Feeder) ) I won't Copper the next QT Tank to let Inverts Live. |

(Some guy posted that he gave a fresh one, and something in it Killed all his fish...Maybe back luck) I just called a LFS and they sell Medium/Large Live Brine shrimps. I'll get some tomorrow, to stock up the new Transfer Tank #2, while my baby brines hatch for next Transfer Tank #3. I also have the Tiger Copepod farm to add those too. He will have lots of live food. He ate last two days a lot, so will make it till tomorrow. Day 3 of Transfer. Maybe the Copper Treatment suppressed his appetite (he stopped eating next day), but he is looking for food. I guess I need to wait till day 3 (tomorrow) but less than 72 Hours before 2am. POLYLAB Medic (arrived) will start treating Kitchen Tank (for future)
I know Polylab medic isn't a 100% effective. But since I don't want to tear down kitchen tank till summer (Fallow), I can take a chance and try the stuff (then add a fish, and see what happens). None of the fish in Kitchen Tank show Ich, but maybe the Polylab will kill them during the migration phase. Can't hurt to try the stuff. It does work for some people. |

JUICY TIME (Did Clam Now) Better to do in Larger 65 Gal
It was easy. Knife wasn't good, but X-Acto Knife took a 2 seconds. Better in 65Gal to see if it works. Might save me a trip to get Live Brine Shrimps. Recording Timelapse Photos with my Web Cam to see if he eats it. |

Wally,
why did you decided to do TTM and copper? I ask since Ich can be treated by TTM, so why do copper if you were already doing TTM?? I have never done copper, but TTM is much easier on fish, and you do not have to test copper levels, etc etc.

yes i did copper in 65Gal.
That is because there is also another fish in there. No point talking about him much. He never got ich but since new could get it. A blue green chromis that I was going to add to my kitchen tank. But then the copperband got ich. Chromis was in an acclimatization box so i brought him along. but chromis won't go into TTM 10 gal. he might just go back into kitchen tank. Copperband will go into my new tank or maybe into kithchen tank. That will depend on if i get him to eat something. Copperband was pecking in kitchen tank since it is very mature. So i have choices. But Copperband is top priority and treating him and 65 with copper is no harm. |

Copperband ICH (Tank Transfer #2) Move to 10 Gal Tank (Pre-Loaded with Tigger Pods)
Copperband has been moved over (Day 3) Just short 11 hours (before 72 Hour Deadline) So I prepared the 2nd TTM tank last night (Sterile, Dried 48hours). I consider this 2nd Transfer since he was moved from (DT to 65Gal), and Now from (65Gal to 10 Gal) One more TTM transfer (Monday...in 3 days) and then move to DT or a QT Tank. -> Water Exact Salinity and Temp and TTM#1 Tank -> I threw in a pile of Tigger Pods from Farm (last night), and added some PhytoFeast to get them triving. -> A OLD Dead Rock, and Plastic Plant for Pod to have place to live in, and Coverage for Coperband. -> NEW TTM#2 is NOT going to be Copper Treated to keep Inverts Alive (food for Copperband). Not sure if he touched Clam in other tank, (doesn't look like he did). Will check video later. I will make a new Feeder and Throw it in again with some MASSTICK Food (And start the Food Chain Eating). Hoping for the best. He is very healthy looking. Alert and No ICH visible. New and Improved (Feeder II Plus) Phyto-Favoured Masstick Pod Bait
Old Feeder is contaminated so made a new one. Some Improvements: -> Easy Grip Handle for Tweezer Control. -> 4 larger Pocket holes, but Shallow (Less Mastick Needed) -> Soaking food in one Pocket with PytoFeast (for Pod Bait) About to drop in. Web Cam in place on TTM #2 |

WOo Hoo Again.
Copperband is Target Pecking at the Plastic Plant (Copepods). Sniffing NEw Feeder, but not eating there yet. He is on the hunt for food. PERFECT TIMING. My Tigger Copepod Farm just had a one of the Cyclical Populated Exposions. Lots of Adult Tigger just matured. So I just dipped my Seive in and threw in a bunch more pods into Copperbands New Home. That's great!
There was a BRS video today and they actually talked about how hard it is to get copperbands to eat. They said one of the staff members has a "tried and true method" he uses to get copperband's to eat -- He makes a paste out of frozen foods (I'm guessing blends them up) and puts them at the base of dead SPS. Apparently that's where copperband hunt for pods and things like that in the wild, so it's supposedly extremely effective. After he trains them like that for a bit, they become good at eating the regular way. So if you've got an acro skeleton laying around you might want to give that a shot. |

Rakie,
I actually laughed when I read your post..... and still have a big smile on my face writing this. DO I HAVE A ACRO Skelton kicking around?? !!! I have a bin Full of Dead SPS, since I kept every one I killed. Sad eh? Hope I break that old Habit in new Tank. I actually threw in a bunch into Refuge, since they are very porus and good for a media for Bateria, and POds. I could setup a Dead Acro Forest for the Copper Band I'll start with a few... And if you think I'm joking (Which I know everyone who Followed now I am not)....Here is proof. That one big Tree (in my Refuge) looks perfect. It's probably covered in POD and Stuff. I tried not to laugh too Wally, trust me. The good thing is those skeletons should be clean as a whistle from all that soap
To go off topic for a second -- On "Clay-Boa" I saw someone who had kept high end acro skeletons to serve as a warning. It was a small grave of the most sought after acros of the time that he had grown into mini colonies -- He killed 'em all one day dumping magic potions into his tank, trying to make everything better... He did the best thing ever with them too -- mounted them all on a small plank of wood with names (homewrecker, walt disney, ASD Rainbow, etc etc) and put them over his cabinet of magic potions to be a constant reminder to not just dump crap into his tank. I don't know why, but I love that idea. Nothing like a mirror to call yourself on your own s***. Whenever I feel the compulsion to buy new and unknown stuff, I always remember that guys post. Sadly I don't even remember his name, but I remember the damn story! |

Rakie.....Thanks for passing on that tip!!
That Article I posted before about Copperbands Feeding in the wild, is there are two categories of eaters: 1) Ones that EAT WORMS (and that Acro I just brought in from my 110G Refuge.... if you look closely, has a few Bristle Star WORMS on it) 2) and Ones that EAT APTASIA (so I'm going to dig into my Kitchen Tank for a Loose Rock covered in Aptasia) [Actually, I can't do that, since that Tank may have ick, and a no-no during Transfer] Fantastic Idea!! Tomorrow I'll Smush on some Masstick Food on the base. And BTW.... That Small Bottle of Reef Nutrition, (is a bottle with 3 small holes near the Top). The Baby brine Shrimps hatched, and I caught a few hundred in a sieve. Put them into bottle with PhytoFeast. They are leaking out slowly. Last edited by Wally.B; 04/06/2018 at 10:10 PM. |

Awesome, glad it took his interest! As soon as I saw that on that last BRS video I knew immediately it would be something I try in the future if I ever get a copperband -- which I will totally do when I ever setup a proper sized tank...

+1!
I’d love to set up a paladurium - I’ve always thought it was called palladurium.. anyways, whatever they are called, they are so cool. Just what Wally needs... ANOTHER project.

He's a natural for sure.
And as the saying goes -- Just because you have enough REEF Tanks doesn't mean you have enough aquariums. Matt... You and maybe Wally would enjoy this. This guy is an ant keeper and setup a palladium for an ant colony with a river flowing around it, complete with a couple critters to eat drowned ants, aquatic plants, FW shrimp, etc etc. Very cool little setup. Yeah he's just setup a new 100 gallon custom palladium as well for another ant species. He's a vendor, or I should say he's become a vendor making lots of custom stuff for ant keepers that didn't exist.
He's setup a water feature in a third tank as well complete with a blue crayfish to eat the ants which fall into the water and drown. Definitely some cool and inspiring setups. |

Pretty Amazing.
My friend has a Planted Tank setup and it's kind of different and interesting. A whole new methodology. Complex maintenance in it's own ways. Lot's of pruning and garden work. My wife would kill me, since I've been promising a slim down on operations wit the New Tank. I'm going to try and sell the old Setup. Post on Local Forum/Kijjiji and some bulletin posted in a few Reef Shops. If LFS sells the setup they will make money filling it up. Plus when I'm done, I'll be selling more stuff: -> The 65Gal Tank (with the wood stand/canopy) -> The Nice 150W/250W (Single Ended clips for both Bulbs) Aquarstarlight MH Fixture (Gutted to work on External Ballast) -> Two Luxor Variable Power 150-250W Ballasts (Both with 2 year warrany left) -> A 2nd Aquastarlight fixture (150W hand me down). Internal 150W ballast -> Will be selling my AquaGensis Robo Snail (AUto Glass cleaner) -> The Hang on RLSS Overflow Box -> Possibly the RLSS DB8i Skimmer or the EuroReef (Will only used one for the 110G) -> IceCap VHO Ballast (I still notice they Service them) Why? No idea. -> And more stuff I want to clear out This will help fund the extra Automation I'm working on. Got A Wink-2 Hub, Alexa Dot Smart Speaker, and some Wifi Outlets (Apex Integration), In Wall Dimmers (Z-Wave) Goal is I'll be able to talk to Alexa, to control the Home Theatre Lighting, Office Lighing and Themes for Tank Lighting too. |
