anyone tried to using Jebo WP40? - Page 140

Shifty: My WP40's turned the water sort of red/brown when I added vinegar (only when I added vinegar, like a tablespoon in 5 gallons of water), and had tiny flecks of plastic floating around. My pumps also had a lot of grease on the impeller, and the plastic housing was sort of oily. That's where I think the discoloration is coming from. Thoroughly wipe every nook and cranny and see if it helps.

I honestly don't think it's leaking anything from inside the housing, as there were no air bubbles escaping when submerged, and the casing looked intact. I think it's just factory grease and grime on the plastic.

yeah mine had alot of greese on it also (more than the wp25's), this is the main reason I rinse off everything before it goes in the tank. I guess I just didn't think of the greese would change the color of the water but who knows lol.

I did wipe everything down real good and placed it back in clean rodi water this time so we will see.

I found my problem, the front half of my exterior case has no rubber guide for the impeller. How should I go about this? Does FS sell them even if I didn't purchase from them

Anyone has any spare rubbers willing to sell

They do have replacement rubber impeller guide, but I would just email them about your missing one. They might just send you out one at no cost or just for a couple of dollars to cover shipping.

I emailed fish street and they won't sell me the rubber piece because I didnt purchase the pump from them.. What a let down, well I made a quick fix with some hose and not the pump is almost.. Almost silent

Is anyone willing to order me the piece with their purchase ID ? Ill pay the cost of it

Anyone experiencing the light sensor tripping into night mode and then not, here is your answer from a UK forum - the saltybox.

Why does the problem occur? Well, it really depends how dark your dark is, and it maybe that the problem doesn't occur.

The controller without the night sensor obviously needs to operate just in full power mode - the controller interprets a high input resistance in the light sensor socket as no sensor plugged in, and of course stays in full power mode.

The light sensor resistance increases the darker it gets. When tank lights are on, resistance of the sensor is pretty low around 1k or lower. When it gets darker, the resistance increases and when it reaches around 70k, it triggers the controller to go in night mode. As it gets darker, the resistance continues to increase until a point when the resistance reaches in excess of 800k, the controller "thinks" the sensor is disconnected and goes back into full power mode.

Simply putting a high value resistor in parallel with the sensor limits the maximum resistance the controller can see - for example, with the 550k resistor I used, the maximum resistance the controller can see will never be higher than 550k, this ensuring the controller stays in night mode when its dark and goes into full power mode when it is day.

It makes perfect sense to me. This is what I thought all along as the reason for why the night sensor will go into full power mode in totally dark room. Are there photoresistor that doesn't go higher than 550K as max resistance?

That explains the same problem I have, makes sense. When tank light go off the controller goes into night mode but when the room is completely dark the controller turns back on

Wouldn't have a clue about that, but I know it fixes the problem as I have done it!

Apparently problem is rectified in the new controller.

Do you guys think that 2 WP-40's will be overkill for my 125 SPS tank or should i go with 2 WP-25???

Well I jumped in and got two of these today. I am sorry that I have not read this long thread all the way and maybe this is common with these, but I am certain that one of the wp40s is weaker than the other.

anyone else have this?

Could be a malfunctioning power supply?, do you have a multimeter to test the voltage?

Now Fishstreet is selling replacement parts for the WP25 WP40, they have Impeller replacements, powersupply, magnet mounts and controllers at very good prices.

Some people may have bought the version of the 25 that had the suction cup mount instead of the magnetic.

Also maybe for someone who broke the clamp that holds the pump. I not sure if it comes complete with the plastic clamp.

Well I don't have two to compare, but when I first put the WP 40 in my 90 gallon tank it would slosh water out if turned more than a quarter of the way up. Now 2 months later, I have it all the way up and it is very obvious that it does not have even half the power that it did. I put a WP 25 in yesterday and it moves way more water than the old 40?

I tried a different power supply (laptop), swapped the controllers between the 40 and 25, did a vinegar scrub on the wet part and it is still running weak? So I will be searching for a replacement power head or getting another 25 as I think the 25's are more than adequate for my needs.

You should try to ask for a replacement, your pump is still under warranty, what you describe isn't normal
