I like your rock layout. Looks like you will be able to leave a lot of room for corals to grow up.

This is my new 37g. This tank is only about a month old, but the LR, sand, and livestock came from my 1.5 year old 30g.

msn711 I like the aquascaping and the mix between SSB and BB It creates a neat effect.

Here is my upgrade to a 65 gallon after 2 weeks.

IKevinI: the sand was really an accident. That's what happened when I turned on the seios and return pump. I figured there was no point in me trying to fight it everyday, so I just let it that way. The corals don't seem to mind, so neither do I. (Otherwise, I'd be looking to downgrade since I'm going mostly LPS). But I did paint the bottom of the tank blue before I set it up because the sand getting blown away from the front of the tank had been a problem before. I thought it wouldn't happen in a bigger tank, but I guess the current is still bouncing too much off the front glass. Oh well. It did work out pretty well with the bottom of the tank being blue. Now if I could just get a picture that wasn't so blue. The phoenix bulbs really aren't that blue.

That looks like red slime algae and it is not normal and is very bad. I recommend you search around on the forums for some different tactics to get rid of it.

Good luck.

Yes it is cyano bacteria. Too many nutrients in the water from overfeeding possibly. Cut down on feeding, maybe cut down lighting schedule a bit, do water changes, protein skimmer will all get rid of it. Also flow to that area in the front of the tank. Can you aim one of the power heads in that direction so that it is moving water across it? Don't need to blow the sand around just get the water moving over it. Also when doing your water changes try to siphon some of it out. You will find that as you siphon you don't actually need to get the sand, just kind of go over it and the cyano will come up in sheets.
