I think I am unsure of what I want right now except for the basic fish Nemo style if you will the rocks are already in there so corals I hear are hard to handle as abeginier ..although some of th ericks I bought have some coral growing on them.
Do I need powerheads to move the water?

Yes you need powerheads to move the water. I suggest the Koralia brand propellor pumps. I would go with 2 k3 or 2 k4s.

Also doe sthe flow have to be in the same direction? Or can you put the heads on opposite sides of the tank?

You can place the powerheads anywhere you would like. Opposite ends is generally how I run mine.

Bermuda skimmer coming and I will order 2 koralia today
