Fair enough. The aquacultured false percs, which is what I would recommend getting if you're looking for a typical clown, is generally very hardy. I've known several individuals that have had these guys for a while, sometimes in not ideal situations only to see them do fine. I'd rather try my luck with a clown than another damsel and end up with an aggressive jerk taking up bioload.

JMO.

As for the next addition... My vote is definitely for the cleaner shrimp. One of my favorite additions by far!

FYI...Chromis's are hit or miss. They are cool because they are schooling fish, and if you get 6 at roughly the same time, after a month or so you'll be lucky to have 4 left.

Another FYI....Stay far, far away from Damsels. They are truly devil fish. If you put one or two in your tank, you will be soon be very sorry as they will bully every other fish you add later. And good luck getting them out once you figure out that what I just typed is the truth.

This.

I bought 5 one time to get the small school and because you're supposed to start out with an odd number... ended up with ONE.

FWIW I can also attest to the chromis killing machine. The only thing worse than ending up with one is when you end up with 2 and they lay eggs. They will kick the crap out of the rest of your tank trying to keep everybody else away.

I have a blue fiji devil damsel that I have had for over 8 years now. I have brought her along every time I move or upgrade tanks, because she is a model citizen. Go figure.

one thing that i do for acclimating my fish to put in my DT is to setup a small tank with heater, power head, and some pvc on the bottom for hiding.. i do that so that i can match the LFS salinity which is usually around 1.019 then over the next week or so i start to bring up salinity maybe .001-.002 per day.. This will also give you time to watch your new fish an see how they swim, eat, an to watch for diseases an to be able to treat the disease..

That's my $0.02, It has saved all my current fish.. Lesson learned the hard way..

Alrighty then. Guess I'll pass on the damsels and chromis lol. I plan on buying my next order on reefs2go.com. Very good prices but I do not know how credible they are. Can anyone vouch for them? I want to get some hermit shells, 2 trochus snails, 2 scarlet hermits, 500 amphipods (buy one get one) so 1000, an ocellaris clown, 4 blue leg hermits (buy one get one) so 8, 3 cerith snails (buy one get one) so 6, 2 nassarius snails (buy one get one) so 4, 2 ninja astrea snails, 2 nerite snails, some dry sea weed, and a clip. Does this seem to be a good clean up crew for a biocube 29 which really has about a 25 gallon display area?

Sounds like a good start. I'd say hold off on the clown for a week or so though.

In my tank i have 6 fish. A maroon clown, tribal blenny, scooter blenny, royal gramma, and 2 damsels. untill I added the damsels my fish seemed to be kinda blah. Now that i added the 2 damsels, 1 yellow and 1 blue with yellow tail, my fish seem to be much more active . Adding the damsels to my tank seemed to be just what it needed.

A quarantine tank first. Money well spent.

True true... Got to find a place to put it first. In a week or something I'll put in that clean up crew and clown.
