Feature Article: Further Studies on Protein Skimmer Performance

I believe this is one of the articles I was referring to.

Update - Well can't find the SRO 2000int anywhere (Aquacave, Salty Supply, Aquasyth, Marine Depot, and LFSs). They all said Coralvue has none in stock and their next distribution to retailers is in a month or more. Some have the XP2000, but at $400, I am stretching the budget. They have the XS 160s, but I like the bubble blaster pumps.

Okay will pull the trigger on the SWC160 or SRO XS 160. Both of these would be good enough for my 90 gallon right?

Wow - Good article Keithhays! Thanks for sharing. I "skimmed" throught the math stuff as it went over my head, but I got the main point.

Ahh.... just had to give ya a hard time.....

I have had half a dozen skimmers some needle wheel and some becket, and some spray induction, i don't like the ones that have the over grown unions to hold the collection cup, its too violent to break them apart after they are all salt created up...

I personally like the nylon screw approach, Or the aqua C type
(quater turn lock style..)

Think about customer service also not trying to push this product but I've called Reef Dynamics and they have some great CS, http://www.reefdynamics.com/Default.asp
Also they have zero clearance to take off the skimmer cup and I love the easy of the latch, just check out the video you'll see and you might just learn something. Call them up and see what they have to say. Also check out this youtube video on skimmers it's full of great info. I never thought so much went into the building of a skimmer

+1 on the SWC160. Installed on my 65gal mixed reef a few weeks ago and it is doing an amazing job, started skimming well within 24hrs and its output is great. Replaced a Vertex IN-80 (also a good skimmer, but undersized for my application). The price is right, very compact and very quiet. A great product at a great price.

+1 SWC
SWC160 Cone is a skimmer that works. The Atam pump is a perfect balance for the 160 body size and produces a thick nog. I was going to buy SRO but did more research and what I found was over all the people that bought SWC were more happy then the people that bought SRO. Im pretty sure SWC costs less too.

Was in love with the SRO, but I began thinking that I was buying into the name.

SWC 160 wins... just ordered for $246. Can't beat that price. Thanks everybody for the help and responses. Appreciate it.
