yeah well there were many more giants than just 1..and it didn't get any easier to see them!
I have to admit, as time has passed, I wish I had them in a separate tank with lots of uncured rock or something for them to eat. I will have giant ones again in a year or so I would imagine (I think there is still 1 more giant based on something I saw in a hole) but now that I'm past the *barf eWWWWW* stage, I want to know more. This size worm seems to be rare...didn't eat the corals that we can tell...and may have been doing something very good like bristle worms do (I thought they were the bad fireworm...not sure now) . I'm a lover of all the detritus eaters and decomposers...the world is cleaner thanks to those gross guys...I want to know more about these fellas. My class now has a mission (we teachers need a focus ).

i think it would be pretty freakin cool if you were able to make a specie-specific tank for them. you could call it jurassic tank! i have always been amazed by little ones, how they move, and eat, they are kinda gross to when they get bigger, but maybe only because we arent used to seeing them that way...and, man, if that think was a dedicated detrivore....it'd be like having a freakin housekeeper in your tank! if you could really research those suckers, and make sure they are reef safe, perhaps you could breed and sell them as "detrisaurus worm" !

Amazing...I wish my school had a class like that but sadly my junior and senior year will just be AP chemistry and AP physics. I can't do my favorite hobby at school...

I am going to make a tank devoted to them. I also have a tank with a couple of mantis between 1-2". Will they leave each other alone?

You need to seperate those mantids. They will not do well together, especially when they are molting. Mantis are very solitary creatures, and like being by themselves. Check out the Mantis Shrimp forum on here, and look at Roys List. That will give you all the info that you need to take care of your mantids!

yeah, its a safe bet that anything you put in with a mantis, including another mantis, is going to wind up dead.

...and the mantis are separated at the moment due to me moving some rock for other reasons. My mantis are so cute though...I'd love to know if they could co-exist with the "tremors" worms I seem to be the caretaker of now.

you could try throwing one in with them, it sounds like you have quite a few, pick an individual to "take one for the team"

Now I am going to have to sit here and stare at my tank and hope I don't have to pull one of those things out.
