I would just get rid of it, but it's up to you. I don't know how your sump is laid out, but you don't want that thing to crawl into your return pump or your skimmer pump.

Maybe these links will help with an ID. In most cases though these things always seem to be trouble.

Hi all, first post from me, lurked for a while and haven't need to ask a question since setting up my tank 6 months ago - a lot of info on here, thanks!
From the microscope footage and images below could you please help me identify the hitch hiker that is destroying my beloved Jewel Favia coral that has otherwise spent the last 3 months growing happily? These things are numberous, all over my LR, white and approx 0.5mm in diameter and so very hard to photograph but microscrope footage included below; |

Lots of tanks have them running around in the sand/rocks, but they don't eat coral tissue. More likely they clean up what's dying. |

Are these hanging creatures okay?
At first I didn't think they were alive but after seeing more of them and then seeing a tentacle pop out of a couple I had to ask.

It's a flatworm. That particular species eats copepods.

Hitchhikers Guide ? :)
So I got some critters to keep the sand cleanish while I get everything set up, and got a couple of hitch-hikers. Anyone any idea if these (there are 2 of them) are ok to have ?

I have brown bushy hairy looking stuff growing under my I've rock. At first I thought it was cyano or dinoflagellates but now I am concerned about hydroids..Are they photosynthetic? Can the grow in shaded areas?. I will get a pic and post it as soon as my phone charges enough.

I have been reading through this thread and I am a little bit freaked out. I have a patch brown brushy things that are on the underside of a piece of rock. I originally thought they were dinoflagellates or cyano (been fighting both), but now I am not sure. Please help identify.

It's really hard to call from those photos. It looks like a ball anemone to me. But that's just an educated guess. They are mostly harmless (no anemone is completely harmless).

thank you Ron i have a direction in which to research now.will try to get clearer photo tentacles seem clear with little tiny colored spheres on the ends. the tentacles also seem to be 2 and 1/2 times longer than the boot. if it is an anemone.
