Check out what this freaky snail is doing. We've got a homemade crab trap set up to try and catch some crabs that hitchhiked in on a rock and take them back to the beach. It's baited with tuna, and the snails WANT IT. The biggest snail has a snorkel (is that what you call it) extended about 4 inches from the opening of the trap to the chunk of fish at the bottom. It's freaky weird, I'm telling you.

freaky snail

Go to Photobucket.com, it's a free service. You can upload your photo there and then use (copy) the 'IMG' code they give you. Then paste it into your post here and it should show up. good luck.

Hey guys, thank you for all the info any ideas on this guy ? The one inch white tube has been there for weeks but this weekend a fan came out of it? Is this a good hitch hiker? I also noticed a small red duster way to small for a pic the tube is half the size of a pencil led..IMG_2773.jpg

Almost any feather dusters are good. They filter very small stuff out of the water. However, sometimes (rarely IMHO) they can become a bit invasive and will bother corals.

Pretty blurry pic. Looks like a sponge to me, but really hard to say with that pic. Almost all sponges are good!

I'm trying to get a positive ID on these snails.

They're very small and primarily come out at night.

Thanks.

Thanks. That was my guess but they didn't look like any of the collonista pictures I could find.

Nudibranch or slug?

Found this guy skulking around on my orange lettuce sponge using almost perfect camouflage. (please see attachments)

Is he good or bad?

Bad, it's likely a predator of that particular sponge.

I think that's a flatworm, there are some larger species as well like that.

Could anyone tell me what the white branching arms might be? They move independently to feed whatever mouth is attached.

When you clean, feed or mess with your tank, live rock has tube worms and such, so do some soft corals they put out a "net" and catch whatever is seeming or floating by.

It is always present. Hasn't moved, just reaches its arms out and each one will retract one at a time to feed the mouth.

It could be a Curly-Q anemone? What look like tentacles are finer than the ones I've seen, but it's a possibility.

Found this little guy recently. The orange was mostly buried under the sand and I coincidentally dug it out. Any idea what that orange growth on the shell is?
