What would happen if we took all the killer whales from Sea World and released the back too the sea simotaniously. Granted it would take a great deal of money and manpower, but it could be done. What would happen to the whales if the were released in one pod? Would Tilikum become the dominate male and teach the others to hunt? Has an expierement like this ever been done in human history?

I think, more than likely, the vast majority of the whales that would be released would die. You have to remember that not every whale that was captured is from the same pod. They have their own "dialects" and their own set's of "rules." I don't think they'll have the mentality of, "Hey, we were all captives, we gotta stick together!" I think a more likely scenario would be, "Every whale/family unit for himself/themselves." And, even then, you're assuming that the pod leaders have enough learned experience to fend for themselves. Tilikum was taken at 2yrs. of age. Is that enough time for an orca to learn everything it needs to know to survive in the wild? My bet would be on no. I could be wrong but I think male calves stay with the family unit for a number of years before joining another pod. Just because the captive whale reached an old age in the captive system doesn't mean it knows jack about being wild.

Ok so are you cheering for what the whale did? I understand the point about respecting the animal and their natural behaviors but I don't understand why you would consider this the best show?
