Hey if you can make these things, you must be able to make loc line? I doubt they have any patents on it.

You can also take a 1" slip 45 (4881K33) and glue in a half nipple (9173K35) to make what you want. All the above is gray sch-80 PVC. Been shopping their catalog for fittings all night. ![]() Zeph |

Thanks for the research. I will definitely get my book out and check it. Just be aware of the slightly smaller than the ID of sch-40, so there will be a little more restriction. Not sure the actual difference.

Hey Paul, I just got my HD 4way yesterday. Thanx a million for expressing it to me! One question though. I wanted to get familler with it before I plumb it up. What sort of special sockets do you use for taking out those two nylon bolts? My Snap On sockets wont fit in the recessed hole... is it metric or standard, and what size? If I have to turn down a socket, I only want to machine one!

He told me he just uses a slotted Screw driver. I had a problem with my unit and he took care of me on the spot.. Paid for the return shipping and shipped me a new unit. What a pleasure to do business with.

I may have missed it but what are the dimensions of the 8 way and the 4 way unit? I seen their weight, but not dimensions. Can they be mounted upside down if need be?

the 4 way is about 4" diameter and with motor about 7" tall. The 4 way could be mounted any way you want...

Hi mane3215.
I guess you could mount it any way you wish, the only issue would be if you decided to swap out the drum for a different flow pattern then it would make sense to make access simple, I recommend that it is installed above the water line in the normal way, this saves installing ball valves on each outlet so as not too drain the tank during drum changes etc. any reason to run it outside the norm? hth Paul |

Then I will need two other returns drilled into the back for the other two outlets, and one intake. I haven't decided on the placement of any of there. Over flow will be int he center. I want to have a very clean setup, and it will be open top so I don't want the unit behind the tank above the water line. I will be going through anything I can to cram everything inside the stand which will probably be about 30x31 or so. I wanted to mount the 8 way (since its flat) upside down on the bottom of the top of the stand (if that makes sense, the top being where the tank would be sitting, unit on the underside) as well as the pump if its ok per the manufacturer (if not I could build a bump out ledge on the back. I only wanted minimal plumbing (3 pipes down on the lower end of tank for two returns one intake) and two up top (the two returns under eurobracing). I guess this is a long winded explanation for me trying to say I want the absolute tightest neatest setup possible. =). What do you think? The 4 way being round and not flat I think would make this more difficult. |

Does anyone know what type of tool to use to unscrew the plastic bolts to remove the drum? There is very little room between the bolt head and the recess that it is in. I was able to get mine apart using needle nose fishing pliers because the bolts aren't very tight but I'm just curious if there is a tool for the job.

I have a quick question about my wavemaker!! Does anyone know if there is a way to change the direction that the drum turns, on my 8 way. Has anyone done this, & if yes how? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Paul,
In this pic, are the nipples theaded on the 8-way end and then slip on the 90? ![]() The 8 way is so compact I am having trouble getting everything in there. I think I will be getting a 1" npt die and cutting threads in my own pipe and making nipple adaptors.

How about using a MPT end glued on to flex PVC pipe so you could still thread it in properly? The flexible pipe would allow you to bend it as needed to avoid runing into the other lines. Just a thought.

Hey Steve
Exactly, I cut up Nipples as we call them In Canada threaded into the 8 Way and then slip 90"s from there. Serge Always thinking, good for you,!! You can attach a double pole double throw switch to the motor if you wish to change direction often, the instructions should be with the motor info sheet. If you just want it to go in the opposite direction you simply change a couple of leads. Let me know if you need any other info. Paul |
