Hello all,
I had freshwater tanks years ago and now decided to get back into the hobby with a saltwater biocube 32. It's been interesting so far and yes I can see that patience is a key part of this hobby. I so want to install some coral and fish, but sighs, not time yet. The tank is only 2 days old. I do have live sand, live rock and a few snails. I haven't killed the snails yet. I'm off to a good start. Mike |

New to RC
Hello all! I had a 54g corner aquarium running for about a year and then moved it to a 65g. I have a 2nd identical 65g that I would like to start up using the same sump and would like to get some direction/feedback on the best way to do this.
Thanks in advance! |

New to hobby and new to Reef Central
Hello All!
I have been working hard on getting my tank in order. Have had some hiccups along the way and hope being on here will help! Heres my story thus far -Currently have 55 gallon SW tank -Only have two small frags the LFS gave me to test my lighting -Had 2 clowns, 2 wrasse, 1 Royal Gramma, 6 crab, 1 sea hare, 2 cleaner shrimp (added them slowly) -Equipment wise; I have RODI, US Current Orbit IC LED lighting system, auto top off system Issues at the moment: -After I introduced the Gramma she showed signs of ICH. I didnt know what was going on and she continued to eat so I didnt worry. One day she stopped eating and died the next. After that, a wrasse went missing and one of my clowns caught ICH. I went out and got a QT tank and transferred him into there. He did not make it. I quarantined the female clown and she is doing fine now after a week of treatment. I left one wrasse in the DT as it showed no signs of ICH. I have been working to complete a 100% water change as recommended by LFS. However this morning I woke up to my shrimp eating my dead wrasse. The wrasse showed no signs of ICH and was eating normally/acting normal. I was about to re-acclimate the clown back in but after the wrasse passing away im not sure if thats a good idea! Sorry for the long story...at a loss! |

Hey all, my name is Dave. I've recently gotten back in to fish keeping after many years away. Just started helping my kids with small freshwater tanks. Now that my wife has acclimated to the idea of having aquariums in the house, I am starting the process of getting everything together for a marine tank. I'm thinking of starting in the 55 gallon range, but that might depend on what I can find on craigslist. Looking forward to interacting with everyone here!

Looking For Advice
Hi, my name is Samuel. I'm brand new to the reefing community. I was hoping I could get advice and start out the right way. I recently got a 90 gallon bow front tank which I plan on stocking with LPS and Soft Corals (if possible). other equipment I've gotten include a reef octopus 150-int protein skimmer, and a reef breeders LED light. As of now i have a 20 gallon tall tank that i could use as a sump (id like something bigger but i think i could make it work for now). I need help choosing pumps, powerhead's and really any other equipment I will need. I'm willing to spend money to get good equipment, but i do not want to spend 1000s of dollars on one piece of equipment, so far I've gotten everything from craigslist and I feel like I've gotten pretty good deals. So keep that in mind. Im looking forward to what every one has to say!

New
Hi I'm Wendy, I'm very new to this but I do know a little about it. I just adopted a 10 year old established tank about 2 months ago. I had a little 25g about 15 years ago so I'm kinda starting over in a sense.
I do need a little help.....i seem to have both bristle and bobbit worms residing in my LR as well as my sand....any suggestions on getting rid of them? I already have 2 large coral banded shrimp so that's a no go............any help would be greatly appreciated |

New to saltwater
I recently started a saltwater tank (9-1-17) and it is currently cycling. I bought the fish tank and stand off of Offer Up for $80. It was described as a 40 gallon bowfront, but after some research, I found out it is a Marineland Half Moon. The problem is, I'm not quite sure exactly how many gallons it is. I took the measurements and googled it but can't find any definitive answers. Was hoping you all could help me out!
The measurements are 26.5" wide x 13.5" front to back x 26.5 high. The only Marineland half moon tanks that I have actually seen so far (that actually look identical to my tank and stand) list them as either 20g or 30g, but no dimensions whatsoever are offered... Yet when I use a tank calculator with my dimensions, it pops up as 39.8 or so gallons. The tank is rimless. Is anyone familiar with this tank or has anyone seen this tank before and be able to offer any information? Thanks!! |

I've been reading the New Tank thread (Great info). When that thread split, the link sends me to a thread whose last post is dated 2/27/2015. How do I find the rest of the thread?
Please help. |

Hey norcal, welcome to the north bay fish world. Yep, LFS's are slim up here. Have you been to Aqua Tera in Cotati? They have a new owner and have improved quite a bit over the last few months. You should check them out.
I replied to the message you sent me but didn't realize you are VERY new to RC. You won't be able to send PMs till you have 50 or so posts. So get to posting. Hope to see you at a Wine Country Reefers meet sometime. You're welcome even if you are not a reef guy/gal. Quote:

Hello,
I've been keeping a freshwater tank for a while, but always wanted to get into saltwater. Finally decided to pull the trigger and bought a Redsea Reefer 250 and have been going through the motions of setting it up and cycling it. Just added the first life (cleaner crew) to the tank and hoping to eventually have it as a mixed reef setup. I've just been browsing and collecting as much information as possible. Thanks! Jordan |
