Yeah, not necessary at all, but it looks pretty sweet! And hides whatever is behind the sump.

Just like we see acrylic sumps coming in colored pvc, the glass sump could be painted to help hide stuff, but also highlighting the equipment inside.

Anyone order a custom SCA aquarium? Seems like they are missing the 180g models.. They jump from 150 to 210 on the website.

They don't list all sizes online if they are limited in quantities. They actually have a lot more tank configs and sizes then you see online

How do I see the list, or do I call/email to find? Do they do rimless?

They may be silly question, but how is the build quality compared to a RS Reefer or a custom builder like a Reef Savvy?

Call steve there.

Build quality is excellent and yes they do rimless.

Not to grade of reef savy but also 1/4 of the price. They dont do the phantom bottoms or armored seams and such that rs does but also not really needed imho.

Cool, I just sent an email , if I dont hear i'll call too. Is the shipping included in the price?

I'm looking for a 180G rimless.. Hope they have one and it is under $3k.

How do you think their tanks compare to Red Sea Reefer?

I think they are same or better then rs reefer personally. I mean star fire glass is fairly even across board.

I recommend you get it drilled for synergy overflow instead of in tank setup

My current tank overflow is in tank setup so I don't have much experience with the "ghost" overflows.

So if you do synergy overflow, I basically have about a 4" gap to the wall? And all the plumbing hangs in the gap? The returns go up behind the tank too?

I got a 125 48x30x20 rimless from Steve. It was considerably less than Miracles or Reef Savvy. It was drilled for the ghost overflow and shipping was included. Very reasonable. Email is the best method I've used with Steve.

SC Aquariums Owners Thread

Steves very fast! Gave me quotes over email within the hour.

I think I will go with an sca 180 rimless. Now gotta figure out the stand.

Anyone have a stand from sca, can you post picture? Are they nice or just run of the mill?

There's some pic on their site but would like to see in home pics.

Check the last few pages. They offer a basic MDF stand and an upgraded hardwood stand. The MDF is fine, but upgrading to the solid wood stand is the way to go if you can afford it. I don't have one from him, but those who have bought them seem to be very happy with them.

Sweet! When you order the synergy overflow, make sure you get the "upgraded version" for tanks with glass thickness over 5/8's.

Thinking of going the old synergy overflow 16" to save a few bucks lol. It works up to 3/4".

How large are your return holes? 1" bulkhead?

Is you stand shipped or local pickup

The return holes are 1". Yes the 16" overflow would work fine. I like the 20" because it is more silent. The stand guy I used is local only... IMO you should go custom, pre-made stands make me nervous....

I prefer custom stands however I took a flyer on the SCA wood stand since I basically got it for free with the deal Steve gave me at the time. I am actually pretty impressed with the stand. The thing is a tank and well made. My only wishes were side access which I would gain with custom stand.

For the price of the wood stands from SCA you will not be able to get a similar stand elsewhere. If you have the funds go custom but if you simply want a great looking stand that will function with the tank then the SCA is a great option.

Can you post a pic of your stand from sca? Steve sent me some pics for a 72" stand but it didnt seem very impresive compared to the stuff on his website.

just about any picture you can think of in terms of the tank, stand, plumbing, equipment, ect is covered in my thread here: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2550948

Though I will note my stand is now an older model as I think they have new wood ones. Some picsin earlier pages of this thread should have some other pics.

That all said you are looking at a few hundred for an SCA stand or considerably more for a custom stand. Case in point the stand quotes I got from Miracles and Reef Savvy were north of 2-3K and that was before shipping. You could build a stand yourself for around same price as an SCA using good quality furniture grade hardwoods. Choice is yours.

Since the Jebao DCP -6500 takes up almost the entire return section from side to side, could I mount my heater in the middle section where the wood is? Is there an issue with doing it that way? It is really too small for an actual refugium...Just thinking of sticking some marinepure in there and maybe a bag of carbon

my heaters are before my return pump. You just want to have them after your temp probes if you use them so you dont get false readings.

Where are SCA tanks made?

I'm thinking about getting one. Are they made in the US? I get the feeling they come from China. Anyone know for sure?
