Tonight new branches on Slimer (top and disk) acro on frag plug encrusting nicely and starting to color up.


These lights grow SPS just fine these have been under the D120 the whole time I've had them and they are doing good. I got the acro super cheap and it is turning out to be a beautiful coral. My phone doesn't really show the true colors of these corals under LEDs but hope this helped some who are on te fence about SPS.

So finally got my tanks setup and after mocking up my lights I need more. Thanks tanks are 40 breeders and the lights are custom d120's. I am thinking of running two per tank. Also need to get a light for my fuge area which is approximately 18x18x18 any ideas?

Look into an LED spotlight from HD.. I got one a while ago 5500k LED spotlight works awesome grows chaeto way better than the cfl I was running for years FWIW. They have them in 6500k also just didn't have them at my HD. Just put them in a fixture like a CFL.. Like $30. Should look clean and cover that area no problem.


On a side note I've been thinking of grabbing one of those LED panels on eBay red/blue 1 watt LEDs to try an ATS in a chamber of my sump. if I go through with it I'll update here cause they are Chinese Leds LOL..

I'm considering getting LEDs for my tank. I was hoping I could get some fixture suggestions. I'm keeping a mixed reef. My tank is 325g (96L x 30W x 26T). I'm looking at the d120, IT2040 and the IT 2080. Any thoughts out there on how many fixtures I need? I know that the IT2080 is 48" long. I would think 2, but I wasn't sure if I needed to double up for the width of the tank (30"). I was thinking for the d120s that I would need 5 or 6.

I forgot to mention, that my tank is eurobraced so there are no cross braces.

From EverGrow Lighting - Product:

"IT 2060 : 60cm( L) x 20cm (W) x 7cm (H) 120W --24"

IT 2080 : 80cm (L) x 20cm (W)x 7cm(H) 240W -- 32"

IT 2040 product size almost the same as D120. "

The D120 / IT2040 is around 16" x 9" and around 120W.

IT2080 is 32" long. They say 1 per 48", but I would be more inclined to think it provides more intense lighting in the middle and some lower light corals would work towards the outside 6" each way.

Thanks for the clarification. With my size tank with the width being 30", how many would I need to cover from front to back. It seems that the width of the is 7".

I'm thinking from left to right, I need to either 3 IT2080s or 2 IT2080s & 1 IT2060.

Then maybe I should double one of the above configurations to cover from front to back?

I say you use 3 2080s but run them like a triangle

Here are three ways you could use 3 it2080s it just depends on your rock layout which is best for you

Or like parallel parking cars. Like this: / / / but a bit more of a slant.

If you have a rock wall at the back, you could pull the back row of lenses off and pick up some coverage at the back where you don't need the 90 degree lenses to reach 30" down.

Reefbreeders now sells the individual leds so you don't have to import them or search for them. They have a pre-order link in their sponsor forum.

This helps a lot. I remember that Evergrow adds an IC into their leds, which makes strings still operate despite being in a Series connection. Random ebay ones won't provide that. They still don't have a cyan led yet though.

I have a standard 75g, and i saw according to a post on of the IT2080s would be good enough to light it correct? If so, could someone PM me or link to where i can find it? Reef Central forums are being real slow for me for some reason and searching for it is taking me forever >.<

I ordered two IT2080s for myself. Couldn't resist. My DIY light is taking far too long, and I have little free time.

I modified the Reefbreeders layout a bit. I added more violets and changed the reds. The Warm Whites should do fine with the 7500K Cool Whites and Red. If I don't like it, I'll change it around. 4 Violets on 1 IT2080 seem like far too little to me, so I went with 10. I may go with more. Here is the layout.

I see reefbreeders is starting to sell the single led now, i have an orginal blue white layout. Just need to figure out how many of what i need to turn it into full spectrum.......anyone care to help.........please

Since the site is running so slow these days I won't ask "did you actually read this thread". Lots of people have them and the programming works. It jumps from one % to the next instantly at set times instead of gradually moving to that level. The other minor concern is that the touchscreen buttons are sensitive and it takes some time to get the "touch"
