My lights use to do that. I emailed AI and they told me I needed to update the firmware and problem solved. |

CW 50
R 25 G 25 All blues at 90 Ramp time is 30. From 4-11. I have great growth but horrible colors. Out of all the corals, I only had 2 bleach. 1 had recovered and growing again.

so are people mostly running whites at a lower setting and maxing out their blues? I thought white had the "mix" colors that is needed for coral growth?

Most people choose a light not to suit the coral but to suit their eye viewing ... I have tested dimming each color led on Vega & found tat 100% having the best coloration for coral but its little bit yellowish color if full 100% but I can accept the color just coral happy will do but most people prefer blueish lighting ...

I would love to go higher in white, blues, UV and violet but my corals don't just bleach out at higher levels they die very quickly.
I have UV and Violet set way down at 4% because when I first bought pucks with UV and V I fried 30% of my SPS dead!

I haven't kept a BTA since my metal halide days, and the BTA I had back then stopped flourishing when I made the switch to 6 T5s a few years back. I now have the Vegas (for about 1.5 years now) and I'm considering getting another one in my 90g (24" high) and am curious - anyone on here with Vegas able to keep a BTA happy? If so, how far from the lights did your BTA settle? Also, what spectrum do you have your Vegas at?

I've had one for almost a year under mine. Lights are 8" AWL and she set her foot about 10" BWL, but reaches up into the water column about 5" or so. Running my whites at 35% and my blues at 70%.

Hi guys. What's the difference between the color and blue version? It's just the red/green extra on the color, correct? So which one should I buy?

I have a 75G, 2 vega color lights hanging about 12 inches from the top and seem to be bleaching the hell out of my corals even at 35% lighting...
Does this sound normal? |

Kurfer - how long are they on? And yes, this was normal for me. Try starting at 20 and slowly (I mean, like 1 or 2% a week) acclimating upwards.
Another question - what kind of corals are bleaching? I found these lights to be *very* pinpoint, so you'll need to move LPS down and away from where the light blasts. SPSs can handle more but will still bleach. Honestly, a lot of it comes down to the individual coral. Some of my zoos can handle the light, some wither. Some of my SPSs drink it up, others hate it. The good news is once you acclimate everything and find the sweet spot these lights are great. Also - try turning down and Violet or UV if you have them. Also, your blues to whites ratio should be heavy on the blue. For instance, at 35% I would keep my whites, reds, greens down around 20%. Just my personal experience w/ these. YMMV. Good luck.

Does anyone have experience using vegas with a ritteri? I have my lights about 12" awl, and the nem about 8-10bwl. The nem has been doing great since I put it in the tank a few days ago starting with all channels at 50% in acclamation mode headed to 100% eventually, unless someone has a better idea

Anybody using an Apex AWM to control their Vegas? Are you on Fusion yet?

I currently am using the Apex AWM to control my Vegas, but I'm not on Fusion yet. I applied to be a beta tester, but I haven't gotten invited yet
My Director which I sold, was a bit easier to use, but I'm anticipating having similar control when Fusion is enabled.

I am on Fusion and Control my Vegas with AWM. I just 4 profiles set up and times with ramps. Haven't messed with time table yet which I believe is the best way but my tank is jamming now and I am a little nervous to change anything. I wish fusion had a instant weather button too so if I wanted to just set a profile to storm I could turn it on and off.

You can create the profiles on Fusion. Just pick one you are not using and Name it and put in the setting I show above. Do that for Ramp Up, Day, Ramp Down, Moonlight. I can not figure out how to change the Outlet program in fusion for the Vegas so I went back to the old dashboard and manually wrote the program for each Vega there. I will pull up the program and post a copy.
