I looked at the impeller shaft under a magnifying glass and there is clearly some scoring. I have reassembled everything (after cleaning the milky white substance out of the impeller) and started it up at 8:30 this morning. This really lowers the confidence in this product. A call to PA will follow. John |

I reported the problem to PA this morning and within 1/2 hour I received confirmation that I will receive a replacement impeller!
As mentioned in this thread before, excellent customer service! John |

I still won't have mine up and running for another ~two weeks. I'm honestly kind of expecting my pump to fail since I know I got one from the first batches. I'm still going to attempt to take this apart (wish me luck first time!) and clean things off..
Could anyone possibly snap some pictures of what I'm going to be looking for? And maybe a little time-line of pictures while taking it apart? I would really appreciate it, and I think it would make this thread even better .

For the IM250, getting the impeller out is a bear. I carefully had to use plyers to get a grip on the shaft and pull the whole thing out since the shaft was frozen in the impeller. That was a little unnerving since I snapped a shaft on my QuietOne doing the same thing. When I originally put it together and rinsed out the parts, the shaft came out on its own with finger pull. Getting the impeller out was more difficult since the magnet is pretty strong. Hope that helps. John |

BAD NEWS!
After running REALLY well for some time, I checked my IN 180 and guess what? Not running. I remove the pump, clean the impeller etc, then it starts to run again. Then after 30 minutes, it stops again! I clean it AGAIN, this time with Vinegar, put it back, it starts, thank God! After 20 minutes, it stops again. PA contacted. I REALLY hope this is not a problem that will happens sooner or later with this pump. If I hear anymore problems with it I think I will send it back for a full refund, which is too bad, cause when this skimmer it's working perfectly, it really shines!

Octo X200 is back on the tank. I'm glad I have a "back up" skimmer or I would be even more ****ed off.

My impeller has been super loud the last couple of days, I took it apart today and it seems a little wobbily and the shaft feels like it has been worn out. When you slide the impeller you can feel the grroves in its surface. . It has also started (just today) a ton of microbubbles into my display from the skimmer. This is the first time I have had microbubbles in the tank. I contacted PA before about the impeller sounding really bad but I haven't recieved a replacement yet or an answer of whether or not I am getting one. Mine hasn't seized up but I think it is a matter of time. I also got a crazed colelction cup t hat I am waiting on...

Here's how I'm running my Octo X200. Meshmoded and with the IN-180 long neck.
The long neck makes the Octo foam much more stable.

Man it sucks that some people are having issues. Hopefully the manufacturer remedied these for future shipments. Let us know how you make out newmoon.

MOON
Does the IN 180 cup fit right on the 200? Are they are direct replacement?

I'm a couple of weeks into my replacement needle wheel / impeller and it has been flawless and silent with no hiccups whatsoever.
As I said earlier in this thread, the original impeller/NW did not spin perfectly true and seized up. The replacement is perfectly symmetrical. Hope this helps/encourages folks. |

I just bought a used IN80 skimmer, and it is VERY loud.
Does anyone have the manufacturer's contact information? I couldn't get in touch with my seller and don't know where he got it from, thanks in advance!!!
