ro/di units

I'm becoming overwhelmed with the choices possible to buy a ro/di system. To this point I've been buying my distilled purified water, but now I'm upgrading to a much bigger tank. There are soooooo many choices for systems that its making my head hurt. I simply need a decent ro/di system that puts out at least 25 per day, but a decent/reputable one. All I've seen seem good but I would love some recommendations from people actually using some of these units.... Thank you in advance.

Take a look at www.buckeyefieldsupply.com. The premium series they offer is one of the if not the best ro/di units available for the money.

EIther buckeye or air water ice are great to deal with and you get a great deal. Both co's ( and I have dealt with both ) are very good to reef(ers). They know their stuff and wont sell junk.

Don't forget spectrapure. I would not have anything else after owning one.

I couldn't agree more.

I have the SpectraPure UHE MaxCap and IMO it is the best system in the market.

all the housings are the same.sediment/carbon filters PROBABLY come from the same plants in china and re-badged.

i believe what it comes down to is using a dow filmtec membrane because its made and rated for lower(residential) water pressure.

i use the typhoon 3 75 gpd with the chlorimene carbon pre filters.

alot use the same micron size filters back to back, seems redundant to me. air water ice says others do it to keep you buying filters .

All you really need is 1 sediment filter, 1 carbon block, 1 RO membrane, and a DI filter. May need others depending on your city's tap water content.

I also have the spectrapure UHE and there is nothing out there that compares to it that I have seen or used no matter where they were made.

I have a Kent Marine Maxxima and have not been thrilled with its performance.

However, since working with the folks at SpectraPure to upgrade it by adding a 5th stage and switching to SpectraPure resins, I've been much happier. The folks at SpectraPure were fantastic in advising me how to improve my Kent unit and they did NOT take advantage of the opportunity I presented them to sell me more than what I needed to get the job done.

I've heard nothing but good things about their products and I can tell you that the service I received was excellent every time I called or sent e-mail.

If I had it to do over again, I'd go with SpectraPure for sure, and if I had the budget, I'd go with the Maxcap UHE, as (from everything I'm told) it provides excellent water quality while at the same time producing far less waste water than the typical RODI system.

Who knows, if this economy turns around and I feel like I'll still have a job a month from now, I may upgrade to the Maxcap UHE.

Good luck!!

You gents should look at the airwaterice Typhoon III. I have one. It is a 5 stage unit and runs 0.00 TDS for 8-10 months before filter changes with VERY HARD water. I believe it to be one of the best made.

I went with SpectraPure MaxCap Ro/DI. Its a 90 gpd unit and I couldn't be happier. I liked that the people involved with the product were knowledgeable and could back their claims up with factual information. Some of the other vendors I've seen make claims that could not be legitimate.
