Red face Ozone use-Pros and cons?

I had a few questions about the benefits of using ozone, and also the cons. First off, let me state that i am aware of the dangers of using ozone production in a home, taking away the oxygen from a room and leaving you with a nasty headache or worse! I have heard that it is a good addition to a tank making your water crystal clear, but i never understood what it does to the water. Would injecting ozone through a skimmer reduce the amount of oxygen entering the water? Is using ozone through a skimmer the best way to get it into your tank? Also, aside from the potential leak, and overdosing your tank, what are the downsides of using ozone? I understand how a skimmer "scrubs" the water to remove wastes, but what does ozone physically do to the water in a tank? Anyone with info please fill me in!

Thanks,
JIM

Re: Ozone use-Pros and cons?

I posted this in the filter and lighting section and was re-directed to this forum. Anyone?
