HELP to stop the microbubbles
I have never had a problem with microbubbles until now. My tank is filled with them and Im not sure of the problem. The only things that have changed are I upgraded my lights from PCs and halides to T5 and halides and I added 2 more modified powerheads. the powerheads are placed with 2 on each end of the tank facing each other.
Is the powerheads facing each other causing to much surface turbulance and injecting microbubbles or are the new lights somehow producing the bubbles? Any sugestions on what to do? No sump only HOB filter and 4 modified powerheads |

I can't imagine the lighting would have anything to do with your microbubble problem... unless the lights are producing enough heat to boil the water.
I would be inclined to think it may be the powerheads that are causing the problem. It could even be the HoB filter actually. Take a good close look at your tank. You might be able to pinpoint where the the microbubbles are entering your tank. Turn off the powerheads for a bit and check your HoB filter to see if they are coming in from there. The impeller might be sucking in air somehow, but it's hard for me to say for sure without actually being able to see your tank. . Something is pulling air into the water and that's what you need to be looking for. Good luck and I hope this helps, TH

I have had microbubble issues from 2 different problems:
1. The sponge of my protein skimmer was clogged with gunk 2. A power head was blowing directly at the protein skimmer Check those issues, maybe that's the problem and good luck!

In the morning the tank is nice and clear, but after the lights have been on for a few hours the tank becomes filled with microbubbles. What would produce bubbles from light?
I have no sump just 4 modified powerheads for flow. |

that's lots of light! 350W halide, 216W t5ho. Hope the tank is long!
Something must produce some gas with the lights
