I thought zoanthids especially the Palythoa species have palytoxin. Its ok to touch them, but when cut open they spew out a dark liquid that can enter your body through cuts in your skin.

OMG lol any sting would be felt within minutes and of all corals zoos are the most timid. I grabbed a sps and my fingers tingeld then my arms then it went away. But there are things in the tank and rock that can pack a wallip. Its always best to use non-powdered glove to work in the tank. Also not to sound like a teacher but poisen ( because i cant spell for my life stuiped public school) Anyway poisen if plant venom from animal and coral is animal. And yes all coral have a defence and only use whene stressed or feel threatened.

Just wash well and use gloves in the future. Repeated exposure can be a big problem.
