Feather duster lost all feathers
What the hell happened is beyond me. I looked at the tank and the feather mantle had come off my duster. Is this supposed to happen every now and then or not?? Any help?

I had that happen to me. I awoke one morning to find the mantle a few inches away from its now empty 'stem'. Left it there and it constructed a new home for itself...
Not sure if this is supposed to happen, but just wanted to share my experience with it..

if feather dusters get scared or stressed they can throw their feathers....sometimes they grow new ones back, i had one that did and another one that later died... it should grow them back.... but there is a small chance it won't survive... just my what has happened to me...

I hope it grows back. Is there anything I can do that will help it out or is it just by luck and luck only that it will survive??

Mine just recently did the same thing. I have had it about 6 months. I found the feathers in the mouth of my plate coral. I just left it alone. I don't think there is anything you need to do.
My wife noticed yesterday that the tube had new feathers coming out of it. I would do nothing and wait. I think it took about 2 weeks before the new feathers started to appear. I don't why they do it. I don't know that I can attribute it to stress. My water parameters are spot an and I did nothing to stress the tank. It just may be a phase they go through. Regards, Pat
