actinic or 7100
when using a 50/50 bulb, is there better color when using a 7100 blue or a actinic 03 with the 10,000 white?

You must have PC bulbs. FWIW, most people I know prefer the 7100K blue over the actinic. Its brighter, and fills in the colors better.

thanks for that. yes i have the power compacts, supplemented with 204 - regulated led's... i think the bulb that came with the nano cubes that i used to own came with the 7100/10,000 bulbs which gave the tank a brighter clearer look. i use 10,000 - actinic 03 now but its not nearly as bright looking over the 20 gallon. i dont have any corals that flouress, so i think the 7100 would be the way to go...

I would try to add some more lights so you can get both actinic and 7100 without losing any of the 10k.
I tried a bunch of different things with my PCs and they never really gave off any good colors, if possible I would try and rethink ur lighting.

i would but with limited corals and the "led's" as supplemental lighting, and 130 watts of pc's, this tank "shimmers" like any
70 - 150 watt metal halide lighting i have seen.

I think it's better to have a little of both because the 7100 and actinic have their own unique qualities.
Sorry guys, but If I have to pick one, I would pick the actinic over the 7100. The actinic gives a more pronounce glow to the coral and fish. If you prefer a BRIGHTER light, then pick the 7100. I guess it all boils down to your preferences. |

no need to be sorry for your choices. and thats what i was looking for, opinions on color rendering to the tank. i dont have to many corals that would flouress, so i think the 7100 along with a 10,000 may make my tank "pop" a little better...
