Making Calcium Reactor Media from dead corals

I live in Jamaica and as such I have access to an enormous amount of dead coral skeletons. Has anybody ever crushed these and used them in their calcium reactors as their only source of media? Please let me know how you did it and what the results were, good or bad?

Thanks,
MArk
