Talking Easy Aqua Medic Turbofllotor Mod

For those of you out there who have Aqua Medic Turboflotor Skimmers. If you want to make it perform 10x better heres a simple mod.

Take the air intake tube coming from the pump and add an air pump to it. Make sure the pump is adjustable or add a ball valve to the air tube for a pump with out one. Adjust air pump and skimmer to tune in the desired type of skimmate. This causes the skimmer to be force fed air, which creates more fine bubble from the needle wheel. This modification may work on other skimmers too.

I added a Tetra Whisper 40 with a ball valve to my Turboflotor 1000 Multi, that I have on my 150 gallon tank. Before I was getting a cup of nasty, dark skimmate every 2-3 days. Now I'm pulling out a cup of super nasty, dark skimmate within a 24 hr period. Hope this helps some of you, because its sure made an improvement for me.

Thanks
James

When i posted this I should have said it will pull a collection cup worth of skimmate in less than 24 hours. The collection cup of the Turboflotor 1000 holds 3-1/2 measuring cups. Sorry if there was any confusion.

Thanks for the tip!

I've added a air pump now and its definetely making a difference with the number of bubbles in the reaction chamber.

Beats modding an expensive impeller!!!
