Input on possible 50 Breeder setup
I have been trying to figure out what is the best direction to take for my first SW tank for nearly 5 months. I have made the circle from Nano to 120G and back again several times. I now think I have the size I need and wondered if this should work well together.
Tank 50 Breeder (36"x18"x19") Stand Black pine Skimmer Hang of tank. Such as a Tunze, AquaC Remora, or Precision Marine Refugium CPR AquaFuge2 Light Tek T5 4 bulb or Aquactinics 5 bulb I haven't thought too much on water movement but of course it would be addressed with some setup of powerheads. Would a system like this work well together? I want to avoid a sump because it would require custom drilling the tank or HOB overflows, both of which I would rather avoid. Any thoughts? |

Since you are going back and forth with the size of the tank you want, I would start with an inhabitants list. Find out what fish you really can't live without then come up with your tank size and equipment list.

Well, I would like to have a Powder Blue Tang and a Blue Face Angelfish but it might take me 2 or 3 years to assemble the system it would take to keep these guys along with some Corals. Even the 50G will take me awhile to assemble but I might be able to complete it sometime this year.

I could find a stocking list for 50 gallons that I could live with. Thinking about one dwarf angel, clown or two, jawfish, then still probably have room for something else.
I just never see any discussions about setups with all HOB equipment. If using quality pieces, it should still lead to a successful setup, right? |
