Talking My Seahorse tank finally got a seahorse

I have had this tank setting empy for 2 months now anticipating getting a seahorse for it.

I finally got one yesterday at pets inc. Its a male and they are going to call me when they get a female of the same color. Here's my little cutie!!

He is eating like a champ. He got brave this morning and took a cruise all the way around the rock pile.

10g. I put 2 filters on it that I can control the flow better instead of putting a skimmer on it.

He is a tank raised H.erectus. I have been looking at info on them for a while and decided to go with captive bred instead of wild. They are much easier. I got him at Pets Inc. for 59.99 and I had a coupon from phoenixmetro.com that was 10% off. From what I have read, once settled in their new home, they become quite personable. Even as far as courting owner when they come up to aquarium.

So cute in the red algae! How do you plan to control the temperature on that little tank?

Its in our bedroom so for the last 4 months it has stayed at 76-77. Its pretty dark in there unless I open the blinds. I have a 10,000k coralife T8 bulb on it and it really doesn't heat up the tank at all.

Update on the seahorse tank. My girl, well she needed a boyfriend. We've had him for a month now. Both are doing great. They are extremely interesting to watch and extremely adorable. Both will hitch on to my finger when I put it in the tank and both will take food right out of my fingers!! Here's a few pics of the pair, the tank that has grown out a little.

Yes. Instead of a protein skimmer, I went with 2 filters so that I could control water flow better. I do weekly water changes and clean and siphon sand and rocks as well.

NO protein skimmer. 2 cascade 100 filters(filters for up to 20g tank) 10g tank and 10-20% water change weekly.

be careful of bristle worms eating your sea babies. I had bristle worms eat mine when they were sleeping.

I don't think I have any in the tank. Funny thing too, they sleep together on the filter intake.
