HOB Protein Skimmers

Just wondering about running 2 HOB protein skimmers on a 150 gallon tank. I know sumps are the way to go, but I have no clue how to set them up without the fear of a wet room should the power go out. With that being said, I was looking to run 2 Aqua C Remora Pro's on the back of the tank, with live rock and 2 canister filters. Anyone had luck with this type of setup on a tank this size? Or should I just try to figure out a sump set up? Thanks

truly I would not know that much about a new tank but I know most people are going to tell you to go with a sump as those protein skimmers are much more efficient. It also allows you to set up a refugium and increase water volume.

Hmm do you have a built in overflow? If not it would be risky to have one of them hang on overflows since if it clogs your going to get water everywhere. I know a friend who runs a deltec on his 100 and doesnt have a sump.

I do not have a built in overflow and am very afraid of flooding. So, is the Deltec a HOB or how exactly does it work in my situation. Sorry for being nieve to this. Thanks for the help!

Deltecs are pretty expensive but very effective, Tunze hob skimmers are good too. Its just like any hob skimmer. I agree its risky to have a hang on back overflow.

Deltec offers two HOB skimmers (MCE 300 and MCE 600). I have the MCE 300 on a 20G, but it's rated up to a 90. It works great and pulls out dark skimmate. I would recommend reading up on the Deltec Forum and their website. http://www.deltecusa.us/

One last question. The Tunze's actually hang from the side of your tank in the water? Am I understanding that correctly?
