Will a broken mag 24 impeller keep working?

hey guyz i have a slight problem...I put on my mag 24 and it worked fine for a while , then it suddenly stopped working, i unpluged it and disassembled the impeller and saw that the ceremic rod was broken at the very base of the impeller. I also found that the rod and the impeller were fused together, im not sure if its just me or this is how it is made. Anyways, i took out the very small broken pieces...( about 1/2" total ) and cleaned it up and plugged it on and it worked perfectly, the water came shooting out very powerfully.. ...
Can anyone tell me if i should keep using it, or just use it until i get another impeller. Or if i shouldnt change the impeller at all..

Please help

Thanx

Get a new one, it will only get worse.

My reasons are as follows. I feel like I should explain.

Its broke and you found out why, disassembled, cleaned, etc and now things are good again. Now that you know it is not like it used to be when it was new, wouldn't you feel really bad if it broke whilest you were on a vacation, and couldn't get to it.

Perhaps that is a stretch......

I can say from experience that it sucks to come home from vacation to realize that the pump I knew was bad but still working totally crapped out and caused more loss, in $$$ than it would have cost to repair the problem.

Good Luck --landlord

I have a Mag 12 and I too recently broke the ceramic impeller shaft.

Like yours, it continued to work, but I immediatey ordered a replacement impeller unit. It's the safest thing to do, and an easy and relatively inexpensive fix.

As "landlord" said, only bad things can happen if the broken shaft and/or pump fails completely while your away.
