180 gal help

I have a 180 gal tank that I would like to cut out eh top plastic braces that hold the glass lids. I don't know if cutting them will effect the structural integrity.

I have two MH lamps right over the braces that cause a shadow and I want to eliminate that.

What do you think will I be doing damage or is the plastic brace thier just for the glass lids.

thanks.

Everything I have ever read says do not cut out the middle brace on long tanks especially. Maybe other people have had luck with it?

Definitely, don't do it. The braces hold the glass integrally to prevent bowing and then failure of seams.
Use 3 lights.
