Question Re-activating charcoal........

From what I've been reading, you need temps near 900 degrees to "re-activate" activated charcoal..............

I've also been reading that self cleaning ovens (as in kitchen type) clean themselves by superheating themselves to over 900 degrees for several hours........

Can you see where this is going ???????

Has anyone tried it ???????

Thoughts ???????

Not gonna work, I'm afraid. You also need pressure in addition to the high temps. There's a very specific process to activating charcoal, and the average person simply isn't going to have the equipment to do it. Ask Randy, Boomer or Bertoni in the chemistry section, and they can give you the specifics, but the question has been asked many times, and the answer is always no.

In our next installation. . .DIY diamonds. I'm pretty sure those can't be made in a conventional oven, though.

The cost heating your oven to those temps would outweight the cost of new carbon.

Your oven self-cleans at about 500 - 650 degrees (for GE ovens).

Oh, well why didn't you mention the Easy Bake? Of course, that would work. It's just that it will take 10 years and the middle is still undercooked.
