CAD 39g Sig vss. Other Nanos?
I am about ready to take the plunge into nanos. For about a month, Ive been sold on RSM. I discovered Finnex and CAD about two weeks ago. Now I'm confused about which AIO is the one for me. Im leaning toward the CAD 39g because of the stock lighting (I prefer not to mod). I have searched this forum for info on the CAD and have not found much. What do you think about the CAD vs. other nanos?

Cad is a great tank i do have a finnex but have known people who have the cad. the bigest differance is the finnex is like a cube with square eges and the cad is rounded like the ap and bio cubes
but if i were to get the cad i would look into the cad 39gal pro. it cones with everything including sump |

The 39G Sig is gorgeous. i have had it since March and its doing great. the stock equipment is very good quality and especially the skimmer, its one of the best skimmers (100G Pinwheel) i have ever used. it comes with everything that you will need so theres no modding or upgrades you need to do in the future. 500GPH, UV, cooling fan, loc-line and its bigger at 39G.
i cant say enough about the tank itself and the build, its 8mm thick and the edges are all mitered. the whole thing just looks like furniture. its a pretty good deal since you get a furniture quality tank with professional equipment. the Pro and the Signature comes with the same equipment and the same tank. its just if you like external with a sump (Pro) or built in with no plumbing work (Sig). i personally like my Sig though. hope it helped |

Snow,
Thanks for the information. I think your post may have sealed the deal. How do you have your CAD stocked? Any pics by chance? |

The CAD 39 is a great tank. For me what it came down to was the looks. I had the finnex originally and saw the CAD tank and fell in love with it having the rounded front and being rimless. The finnex was a great tank. I had no problems with any of the equipment. It just looked like any other aquarium being rectangular and all. I currently have 2 39 sig. series and a 34 gallon CAD custom as well as a 34 RSM. The RSM is an ok tank. You are limited to your lighting choice. The skimmer that comes with the RSM is pretty much junk. A few guys have kept the stock skimmer and have had luck getting it to work. I like many others swapped it for a Tunze 9002. The heater that came with the RSM would stick and heat the tank up often. Several guys experienced this problem as well. The RSM is a nice looking closed top all in one. Its biggest drawback for me is the lack of lighting choices. Many RSM owners have had luck growing all types of corals including SPS and clams however.
The CAD tank and equipment is good quality. It all does the job it is supposed to and does it well. Like Mark426 above mentioned whether you are looking for the CAD or finnex you cant beat the service from Oceanreeflections. Good luck with your choice. Jason |

its a great choice Jmoose you will love it. its such a great tank.
my tank has been stocked since April. i have some pics of it when i first set it up but havent updated any new ones though. i still have all the stocked equipment as is without any modding or upgrades. the skimmer works awesome, some ppl even compare it to the Deltec. for me i would compare it to my Precision Marine skimmer (which i love). wow Jay-sun you have alot of tanks impressive skills in maintaining so many. it must be awesome to see all those beautiful reefs around you. |
