Calcium Reactor
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good Calcium Reactor for a 180gal. Is the Coralife 250 OK or should I stay away and look elsewhere? I have C02 tanks and regulators...just need the reactor. Is one better than the other. Why in the world are they over $300.00 for a piece of plastic with a power-head !!! Am I missing something? How bot' those GEO Kal reactors over $200.00 for what? Thanks Ed |

build quality is the main part. GEO cal. reactors are one of the better ones.
coralife reactors end up leaking over time. |

On my 220 I am planning to have geo 618 calcium reactor. For a 180 I think you could get away with a geo 612.
Don't buy new buy used. mike

Here we go gain. I got geo and a corlife 250 on a second tank. Been running for a while. Zero problems from the coralife. Just my 2 cents.

I run a Koralin on my 90gal. The only issues I had was not technically withy the Koralin but with the CO2 regualtor and the effluent valve.
The Milwaukee regulator simply couldn't remain stable as far as the CO2 bubbles went. No matter what I teiewd it would drift off. I replaced it with the new AquariumPlants electronic CO2 regulator. A little more money but SO worth it! Dialed-in immediately upon setup. Pure genius that thing. I also had trouble keeping the effluent drip from drifting off as well. I don't know what the Geos use but the Koralin came with a little in-line valve that was pure crap. I got a relativelyu inexpensive plastic needle valve from USPlastics that directly attaches to the Koralin plumbing (no more in-line BS). Makes for a much nicer setup and is as stable as can be now. |
