40 Bdr Sump Size

What size of tank do you like for a sump for a 40g breeder. I was planning on a 55g, but it just doesn't fit with my stand. I'm thinking of a 20g long or 29g.

Big as you can fit under your stand. Whats the dimensions of the area you have to work with?

48"x24", but I really don't want to use all of the 4' length.

What about a 33G? Do you have the height? Would your skimmer fit? They are 3'x18"x18" I believe...I may be wrong though. Someone can say for sure. Kind of narrow for most skimmers though.

Go with whatever fits your equipment and has the most volume.

Skimmer isn't going to fit regardless. The skimmer is 26" and doesn't do real well in deep water, so its going external. A 30g sounds nice. Petco is going to have is 1$ a gallon sale soon, so it depends on what they have around. I may just have to go with a second 40 breeder then.

I use a 20L but as big as you can fit with comfortable working space above/around the sump.
