Question built in fuge?

You've probably all seen tanks with the 'in-tank' corner overflow. My T5's get light into that section as well as the rest of the tank. It's been running for a few weeks now, and I noticed some algae growth in there.

Would it be better to cover that section, and leave it dark, or add some rubble, maybe chaeto, and let it be a refugium???

thanks for the help!

your chaeto would like it, but as a fuge, it's too much flow.

on second thought don't do it.

You clog that and you're going to get flooded.

I covered mine with some thin, black plastic. I used to get a ton of algae growth back there, now I don't get anything. But as a result, my pH isnt as high as it used to be (as I don't grow algae elsewhere in the system). Nothing I'm worried about, though.

sounds good. I was also going to use a some black plastic to hide that area from the side as well. then maybe a nice plant to hide that lol

tank is doing awesome though. I even have a healthy SPS in there now, imagine that
