My 90 gallon tank build
I just decided to start my first reef tank and since I was never able to get a 92 corner I settled for a 90 gallon tank. The previous owner had the setup for a closed loop with a oceans motions 4 way with a dart pump. I will eventually use the closed loop system so I finished up the breaks in the plumbing so that it will be ready to be used.
One question I have is what size return pump do I need from my sump/refugium? There is a 57inches from where the sump is to the top of the tank, so almost a 5 foot head. The overflow pipes are 1 1/4". In the last picture is all the pipes numbered for what they are. Pipe 1 & 5 are the overflow pipes, pipes 3 & 4 are the closed loop return pipes and pipes 2 & 6 are the intake for the closed loop. I have a blueline velocity T3 pump which at about a 5 foot head will do 720gph. Would that be enough? |

As long as you are using the dart pump for closed loop, which should be planty,720gph should be enough.
