Just added LR to tank.. FEW QUESTIONS

Ok, so i think something is wrong with me> I added 45 lbs of LR to my new 90 gallon and im gonna pick up another 45 lbs next week when i get more money. I found myself sitting in front of the aquarium staring at a rock hoping to see something pop out and walk around after a few hours in the tank. Am I alone on this or is this common. Should i call a shrink? LOL. I did find one thing and im not sure what it is, possibly a copopod. There as a brown little bug walks very fast on the rock not more than maybe a centimeter. Its hard to tell what it was. It did have two attenae on the top of his head and i tried to get a look at the abdomen. I think i saw many little feet so im not sure if its a shrimp or not. Any ideas. Also I jsut added the LR today and I had the LS in for a few days now. I just tested for Amonia NH3 and i have a slight amount. Would the LR create Amonia that fast in maybe 3 hours in the tank. Maybe it was the LS that i added a few days ago. Anyways, always looking for suggestions

And yes LR can cause a spike in your levels, but if you just added LR and LS it sounds like your tank is starting its cycle. I wouldnt add livestock for a couple of weeks. I know its hard to wait but nothing in this hobby happens fast except for bad things. Good luck

Yeah wallet is alreayd ready. I think i spent close to 1700 estimated and i dont have the lights or the protein skimmer yet..working alot of OT to make up the differnce. nice to know tax refund is coming soon too..lol..so MIke I should add the rest of the LR while its cycling..what would be the benefit for me to wait to add the LR..adding the LR later can cause a small cycle anyways..i will go very slow as i know the faster you go, the harder you fall but i was hoping to at least finish up with the rock. i purchased some tonga rock today but i want to go through premium aquatics for the rest of it...

Your NOT alone......There are a lot of crazy reefers out there.....hehehe

Dont call a shrink......get a girl friend.

Its a newbee thing, You just want to see underwater reef life. Thats why it is so cool. The real Deal is that you may see something. or maybe not.....maybe see more things if your drinking a beer.

But the truth is that you will see all kinds of things night after night. I have had things just pop up over night...after a few years of having the tank up & running.

A lot of critters like to come out after the lights go out, Night time for them.......A few years ago I bought a Infrared light to watch everything. It was awesome.

add all rock as soon as you can your amonia is gonna go off the charts expect about a month so no need to test everyday did you clean rock good before putting it in it takes time for nature to happen i kept temp a little higher speeds up die off around 85 did a samll water change once a week seemed forever but all in one day it happens its part of the fun and also get a big magnifing glass you can see all the small stuff on rock
