Closed-loop, pump size for 140g?

Oh hum I hate the 'Search' button XD

I am setting up a 140g with dual-overflows, a 6" sloping to 4" sandbed, and various soft corals, lps, and an anemone. I am not sure what the overflows are capable of handling, but regardless I am hoping to install a closed-loop using a Sequence Dart (typical) and wondering if others think that should be enough?

I am building a 330gal and am going with 2 reeflo snappers on om 4 ways. I you build it right you will be able to use smaller pump. The ocean motions web site forum has alot of good info on closed loop, and the owner is a big big help.

I have a 150g sps tank and I run a snappy for my return and dart on a close loop with om 4 way and I love the flow.

Reeflo claims if you use less flow from a pump(like using a ball valve) it uses less energy. I would buy something that is more than you need just in case you ever want to feed a fuge or frag tank, then you can just tee it off and not need another pump. I run reeflo wahoo on my return which is 13 foot vertical and I also have it feeding my fuge but I wish I would of bought a hammerhead now, like I said buy bigger for future expansion.

Thank you for the replies. I do plan to include a fuge (probably in-sump), but this tank will never have sps so I don't need to hammer the flow either, just hoping the flow including the main return would be enough to eliminate mechanical equipment within the tank. What kind of hole diameter are you using for your closed-loop intake? Also, what version of the OM are you using/finding best works for you?

I use the Barracuda on my 150 reef, 48" X 30" X 24", with a www.oceansmotions.com 4 way. It is the best closed system I have had and have had a few. I also use the Omni Flex Nozzles from the same site. You can adjust these nozzles to suit your needs as they are totally adjustable. If you find that you have too much flow in one direction just rotate the nozzle to suit. 2 of my nozzles are hidden behind the rear rocks but are accessible and the other 2 on hidden in 2 islands in front. I do have a primarily a sps reef but a mixture of LPS & softies. Again I can adjust to suit. Below the bulkheads are true union ball valves, which you should have anyway but just another way to tweak it. All my ball valves are wide open.

Having both a Barracuda (basement return) and Dart (CL), concern I would have with the Barracuda on the CL is noise, specially if it's going to be in the same room as the display.
