What is the real world rating of this skimmer?

Hey guys....
In your opinions....what is the real life rating of this skimmer with a medium bioload?

http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/Protei...duct_info.html

It says for up to 350 gallons...but I know most skimmers are a bit overrated.

Thanks,

Jim

Anyone with this skimmer have any thoughts on it's true max rating?

Marine Solutions stopped carrying them, but if you could get in touch with them, they could probably give you some really specific information on the skimmer and they are/were very good at knowing what the real value of the Octopus was as opposed to what the company claimed. If I remember the conversation correctly and this is the skimmer I'm thinking of, it should do it for your 75, but it could be pushing it. The just straight NW150 wouldn't cut it for my 34 iirc.

Some say to take the manufacturer rating and cut it in half, so 150g.

I'm going to be putting a dnw150 (one recirc pump) on my 58 gallon cube. I tried it out in the store I work at, that thing pulled a ton of skimate!!! about a half gallon of used car oil on a 120~ gallon anemone system.

Thanks for the replies. I still marvel at the wide range of opinions from 75 gallons to the mfgr's 350 gallons! I will have a medium bioload and I don't feel I feed heavily.

Ok...let's take this. Which skimmer would perform better under the same tank (my 180)....the DDNW in question here already or a Euroreef CS8-2 that is 24" tall and 8" in diameter with 1 sedra 5000 that is rated from Euroreef for 250-500 gallons?

I don't know much about Euroreef.

I think one recirc pump is really enough for a 6.5"body skimmer.

If you are going to go DDNW, go with a 200, otherwise stick with the DNW150. I already have a hard time getting a dark skimate with my ball valve on the outlet of the skimmer wide open. If you get an octopus, be prepared with plumbing tape to seal all the connections.

The reason I ask is that I saw an Octo DDNW150 for sale.
