Am I ready ?

For my first Corals?

Tank has been running for a couple months now with One FireGoby , some snails and crabs.
Yellow Watchman in QT may be moved this weekend , very hard being patient

NH3 - 0 NO2 - 0 PH - 8.2 KH - 7 CO2 - 1.8
Salinity - 1.026 Temp - 79 PO4 3 - 0 Calcium - 400 ppm

The only thing I can see is the KH is a little low ?

Thanks T Kish

kh and calcium are on the low side, but that all depends on what you want to keep. so.....what do you want to keep?

You'll be fine for Softies and LPS. If you had more flow you could keep SPS. But start out with softies and LPS to get a good idea of what you’re doing and then step up to SPS. Good luck

Mushrooms, zoos, xenia, and leathers are a good start. I just started with SPS and I must say it is a bit more effort, but worth it IMO.

...But at the same tine watch out for mushrooms, star polyps, cabbage coral, and Kenya trees. Great starters, but are the dandelion of corals. Spread like wildfire and can be hard to control.

I have 30 free Kenya tree frags if anyone is interested. I even started a Kenya frag tank!!! (cant flush healthy coral and keep a good conscience)

This is what I keep reading and one of the main reasons I am having trouble deciding.

I don't want to pick something that will over run my tank .

Go with zoas, or leathers IMO. easy, dont take over too fast (although I have seen some monster toadstools) Leaves you a lot of time to trade in or frag.

Keep zoas, gsp, mushrooms, xenia and the sort on their own little islands. It will help to keep them from spreading to quickly.

Revive and/or TMPCC should work for dipping

I have Corals

Picked up a very nice Green and Purple Acan Frag with white stripes and a nice little green and purple Frag of Zoas.

I acclmated them for a couple hours then I dipped them in Melafix and was amazed at what came off them .

Why are the small Bristle starfish bad , I felt so bad watching them die ?

Not only could I not find Revive to buy , both stores I went to never even heard of the stuff ???????

Anyway both are doing great , have opened up and the colour is very good.

At the moment they are both on the sand until they get use to the light.

Any pointers on were to place them ?

Thanks T Kish

Acans mostly like it down on the bottom sand..but you can put them a little higher. Neither of those two types like a lot of light though so not too high up and not in direct light path.

Acans are easy as long as you feed and have decent water quality. Oh they also do not like high or direct flow..
