Smile One last thing

Before I start, I got 3 Question.
(1). I have a seaclone 100 protien skimmer in a sump with some bio balls a return pump and a chiller will that work for a 55 gallon tank?
(2). If you go onto youtube and look at Episode 51 , pt1, How To Set Up A Reef Tank, LA Fishguys, can I use that overflow box design for my 55 gallon tank?
(3). With the positioning of the chiller it is going to be connected to 2 water pumps blowing into the aquarium should I have 2 heaters next to each water pump?

Thanks

1. No bio-balls. Traps junk.
2. Haven't viewed but LifeReef produces some of the best hang-on overflows. They have a good rep for not flooding.
3. I keep my heaters in the sump. Does not need to be next to the pump.

1. get rid of the bio balls, i would def think about upgrading to a better skimmer! the seaclone or seaclown as many like to call them don't work very well

2. I have a buddy with that style overflow and it seems to work great

3. I personally keep one heater by my return pump and one in on of my overflow boxes.... the closer to the flow the heater is the more evenly the tank will be heated

(primpinitup6969,THE ROOK)If not bio balls then what other type of filter media because I dont want to do those fine socks that get cloged.

(primpinitup6969)Why is that type of protien skimmer bad I looks like it could work fine in a sump or on the side of a tank.

(primpinitup6969)Would that style fit in a 55 gallon tank.

Use live rock as your primary bacterial filter. You may or may not wish to use a sand bed. Run carbon in a sump or in a canister. I agree with the sentiment that the SeaClone skimmer is not the best. I had one briefly and sold it, replacing it with a Remora.

In my tanks i use filtersock changed daily but i have left them as long as a week without them clogging.... i do agree that live rock should be your primary source of filtration. the seaclone will be fine for now they are just really finicky and they don't really pull to much from the water! so you will probably be looking to upgrade really soon. I use the asm line of skimmers which most ppl think is the best bang for your buck!

you should be able to use that style overflow for your tank!
