Eric Borneman's surge/wavemakter

Has any tried this? I don' t have the article in front of me, but it has a flush mechanism just like a toilet.

I've seen setups that use them. They do work well but they are pretty loud, take up a considerable amount of space and salt creep is a constant issue.
