Keeping Salt!

If you mix up a container of salt with water and leave it to one side so you can use it only when you going to do water changes, how long can you leave it there? will the mixture go bad?

+1 as long as it is covered it should last indefinitely, and I would put in a pump for aeration. the biggest factor is having something get in the storage container and spoiling the batch.

I'll second that. I usually mix up a batch as soon as I use one up. Life occasionally gets in the way of water changes and it sits. I have gone several weeks with no ill effects. My 55 gallon drums are uncovered. I don't even take particular care to avoid syphoning the dust that collects in the bottom or bother to clean them out but about once a year. I figure it's the same dust that settles in all my systems.... which like everyone I know are also uncovered.
