Are the skirts red? If so, possibly Spidermans. Either way, definitely a nice colony.

Thanks stray. Yeah being colorblind here doesnt help when trying to ID a zoa lol. I grabbed this guy for $220 at bluezooaquatic. I stopped counting polyps when I got to 220 lol. I did happen to email them in request of the common/nickname for the zoas and they said it indeed was tub’s blues.
Hopefully you guys will soon be seeing some for sale threads of tubs blues frags from me

They look a lot like my tub's, but a macro shot would definitely help with the id. JMO

Tubs blue Zoas are old in the hobby, so I won't doubt the existence of a colony that big....however, Atlantis sell Tubs blue Zoa for $60/5polyps......
There is a real and subtle difference between "Tubs" blue zoas, and blue zoas.........this being lineage and connectivity to that original colony that Tubs sold......which everyone knows isn't the only colony that existed....... Kinda like an Original vs a Reproduction watch or purse So......are these "Tubs" meaning you should pay or value these the same as those. Probably/most likely no....they look like a maricultured/aquacultured rock of blue zoanthids. Which in there own rights look great, but should not bear the "Tubs" name unless shown otherwise..... which gets into another discussion....... It looks like they advertise them accordingly http://www.bluezooaquatics.com/produ...d=1561&cid=303 Tubs: http://www.atlantisaquarium.net/tubs...os-frg129.html http://www.exoticfrags.us/corals.php?s=21&c=28

the link you sent me is actually not where I bought it from, I bought it from the WYSIWYG section here:
.http://www.bluezooaquatics.com/produ...d=330&pid=2857 yes I know they are advertised as "blue zoas" but I had emailed them asking them whether they are Tub's blue zoas, in which they said "yes", which was my main reason for buying them

"Yes, the common name on these would be Tub's Blues zoas.
If you have any further questions or concerns, I will be more than happy to help you"

Its a matter of semantics, and causes a bit of confusion for a lot of people.
For instance look at the second and third coral here, this is the same case: https://www.cherrycorals.com/home.ph...table=Y&cat=42 A lot of people associate a name with one coral.....ie all Blue Zoas are automatically "Tubs" because its easier to remember. Like "sheetrock" vs "drywall" Regardless, nice looking addition it will make to your tank.......and I have seen this happen before.

You will have no problem selling blue zoas, if that is your motivation. How much are they worth? Don't know not a zoa guy......
In the end, this is still a small hobby and our word and integrity goes a long way.......I just don't want to see you be taken advatage of....or anyone else for that matter, it just makes it easier for unscrupulous people to take advantage of the situation. This is why I seek out only the vendors and hobbiest I know to be collectors to deal with and build relationships over time.....money or a good "deal" is second to me.

I see, well, you sound like a nice guy lol. Do you think I'm getting my money's worth than. I stopped counting at 220 polyps which makes me think that there are ~300. I bought it for 220$ with ~25$ off.

"The proper ID of these animal are by Genus and species, not by common names. I know you are looking for a "Tub's Blue colony". This colony is striking blue with Solid Blue Eyes."

So is it fair to say that this is some type of morph of Tubb's Blues?

I think you are not getting an answer because it is impossible to say. Does that colony have a lineage back to the original "Tubs" colony? Who cares...
Technically it would not be correct to call them Tubs unless you knew the lineage, and you don't. That said, most people selling zoos that look like that call them Tubs, so it's your call. |

Yah, I see TONS of people selling "tubs blues" and i highly doubt they all are from the original parent colony.
I am just uncertain of what is ethically the correct way to name them.
