dont know which is better but my buddie has both. i have both too. but i have tiny little serpents. IMO both are safe.

Stay away from the green serpents, they eat fish...according to Melev on Reefcast

I got both...but I kinda like my serpent more. It's more active and would actually move around he tank when I feed. I hardly ever see my brittle except for it's arms poking underneath a rock

Just stay away from the greens as above. The rest are safe. I would go serpent if you have to decide on one or the other. They are like sci-fi aliens when they move around and can truly get up and go during feeding time. I have 5 or 6 serpents and a bunch of mini brittles.
